Concordia's Access Centre for Students with Disabilities is hiring professional note takers for our students in the Fall 2017 semester.Professional note takers attend classes as auditors and take notes. They rapidly record information presented in the classrooms, to be viewed either simultaneously or later by the ACSD student.You must email the notes to the designated student after the class. Duties and ResponsibilitiesAttend all classes and arrive 5 minutes before the start of class;Take notes from spoken lectures, discussions, and meetings;Scan/email documents as necessary;Fill out timesheets properly and maintain accurate records of all hours worked;Submit timesheets according to schedule established by the ACSD;Demonstrate professional behavior at all times;Keep all student-related information strictly confidential.
Minimum RequirementsExcellent listening skills and demonstrated ability to identify essential components of orally presented information;Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling and academic vocabulary;Comfortable operating a computer;Must be comfortable working in an academic setting with diverse populations;Must be able to work hours that correspond to students' schedules, including evenings and occasional weekends (schedules will be set at the beginning of each semester);Must participate in an on-line training course.
