Description:

Woman in her 30s with unseen disabilities seeking a part-time support worker to do regular house chores and errands once or twice a week. House chores would include deep cleaning of the space, refrigerator and oven cleaning, and laundry. Errands can include grocery shopping, pharmacy runs to pick up medication, etc.The client has Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), which results in extreme allergic reactions to most scents and chemicals. She will give you a detailed list of what can and cannot be used, but you must be extremely careful with what you bring into her home regardless. She struggles with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), which can lead her to be physically incapable of certain tasks, and thus how you leave her home is very important. Having to replace furniture or appliances may be impossible. Moreover, you must be mindful of her additional environmental allergies (which will be outlined in the interview and early training) when cleaning, following a specific protocol that will be discussed with you.As a result, a person with a very strong attention to detail and sensitivity to such struggles is a must. Requirements:

  • Experience as a carer/support worker and/or housekeeper
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow strict guidelines
  • Non-smoker
  • Physically able to be on your feet for 6-8 hours at a time, do minor lifting, and cleaning.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of unseen disability
  • Fluent in spoken English
  • Criminal Record Check\
  • Knowledge of/experience with CFS, MCS, and environmental allergies an asset
  • Driver’s License an asset

The time commitment would typically be one day a week for a minimum of 6 hours; however, there may be some weeks that are more difficult physically than others, in which case a second day may be requested (up to 14 hours a week). You would be paid $13.00 an hour for the probation period of 6 weeks, after which the pay would be increased. The start date would be as soon as possible (ideally before the end of August). If you are interested, please contact me (Marly) at m.monton [at] gmail.com with your CV and a brief description of your experience, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about the position! *Please note: exact address will be given to applicants who are chosen to be interviewed, for the client's privacy.
