 Job Responsibilities: Towards the campers: You will be responsible for the planning and execution of your activity and being in charge of teaching the activity to a small group of kids. Your job is to ensure these kids are safe, healthy and organized at all times. You must understand that your role is the same as their parents; playing enjoying all camp related activities, having lots of fun and being the greatest role model for them, making sure they are making good friends and learning as much as possible, and most importantly, making sure they are always safe and prevented from all possible dangers that surround them.  Towards the staff: you will be required to work as a team player, your role as a camp counsellor requires you to support and communicate clearly and respectfully with other staff members to maintain a healthy and joyful environment at camp in order to achieve the camp’s goals and objectives. You must obey, respect, and report to the camp coordinators, section heads, and camp director. Towards the general public and clients: you will respect Camp Ecolart when interacting with the general public and the camp clients, it is your responsibility to ensure that you, other staff members and campers keep a respectful, professional and positive attitude towards any of them. Always keep a good personal image and proper language communication skills when addressing any parents or third party individuals outside of camp. Time period: Training last week of June; camp goes from July 2 - Aug 10, Monday through Friday from 8:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs. Requirements:  

  • 19+ years of age.
  • Provide CPR and First Aid Certification and criminal background check.
  • Have previous experience working in a summer camp.
  • Be available for the entire time period as indicated above.

We are seeking participants for a study involving the university perseverance of students from immigrant backgrounds. Participation in our research consists of two 1.5 -2 hr individual interviews: one during your first academic year, and another in your second year. Participation in a group interview is also planned (1.5hr).You would be compensated 40$ per interview immediately following your participation (in English or French). It would be our pleasure to interview you if you meet the following criteria: 

  • enrolled in or completed your FIRST year of university (undergraduate)
  • attend a university in Montreal
  • have two parents from the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa or Latin America
  • attended high school in Quebec
  • aged between 19 and 35 years old.

 Title: Hive Cafe Marketing Designer The Hive Cafe Solidarity Co-op envisions accessible food systems that are socially, economically, and environmentally regenerative that is operated locally and democratically. Our mission is to be a model food system at Concordia University that provides food through sustainable practices and empowers the student community. The Hive cafe operates using consensus-based decision making, while striving to create a non-hierarchical work environment. The Marketing Designer will work to create marketing materials and a marketing strategy for the Hive Cafe, with a focus on engaging students at Loyola and in residence. They will also seek out and establish partnerships with like-minded, student-run, groups, and create marketing and promotional material, while upholding an online, and social media presence. The ideal candidate will be driven, and able to work autonomously for long periods of time, while ensuring they are meeting the goals and expectations  set out by the marketing and engagement committee.  The Marketing Designer will report to the Finance/Administrative Coordinator, and the Board of Directors. This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. To be eligible, the candidate must have been a full time student in Winter 2018, and intend to return to full time studies in the fall of 2018. The position will be compensated at $2520 for the duration of the contract (over seven weeks), paid out biweekly (at $360 per week).  Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a strategic outreach and promotion plan for the Hive to implement in the fall semester (for both the downtown and the Loyola Campuses), including the use of social media, digital platforms throughout the University as well as physical materials that can be used while tabling and engaging with students.
  • Develop marketing materials, including:
    • A video outlining the structure of the Hive Cafe
    • Marketing posters for both cafe locations
    • Social Media content (pre-coordinated)
    • An image advertisement adaptable to television
    • Marketing and engagement strategies specific to the Loyola cafe
    • Marketing and engagement strategies aimed at residence students
    • Marketing materials around the mission of the HIive Cafe
    • Marketing materials aimed at small business in the Concordia Cartier (SGW Cafe)
    • Blackboard design
  • Ensure the documentation of new and existing activities is being completed in a comprehensive and easy to access manner
  • Website development, including content development, and possible re-design
  • Collaborate with the Finance/Administrative Coordinator to develop marketing campaigns around specials and exam menus
  • Archive marketing materials in Google Drive in an intuitive manner
  • Assist with the development of social media and web update content
  • Report bi-weekly to the Board of Directors, via the designated liaison
  • Present final products and a summary report to the Marketing Committee, or Board of Directors (in lieu of the Marketing Committee)
  • Accomplish tasks assigned by the committee and / or the board of directors
  • Work independently while maintaining timeline goals and regular communication with liaison and/or other relevant Hive members

 Assets: 

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in marketing or design
  • Aptitude in graphic design, specifically Adobe Illustrator

  • Knowledge and sensitivity of workplace dynamics including anti-oppression strategies
  • Knowledge of website maintenance is a plus

Go Global Expo - CAMPUS REP

The Go Global Expo is Canada’s largest meaningful travel event.  Taking place each year in Toronto and Montreal, it offers students the chance to learn about opportunities to go abroad to work, volunteer or study.  The expo hosts exhibitors that offer opportunities in more than 100 countries, and offers a range of seminars for students interested in exploring their options for travelling overseas.This year’s Go Global Expo in Montreal will take place on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018.As Campus Rep at your university, you will help spread the word about the Go Global Expo to students who may be interested in going overseas. You'll work with expo staff, network with internationally-minded students and faculty, and make connections with people who have travelled abroad or want to travel abroad. Responsibilities

  • Represent the Go Global Expo at on-campus events (frosh week, student fairs, career fairs, sporting events, etc) leading up to the expo
  • Help with the distribution of Go Global promotional material on campus, including handing out postcards and hanging posters

Description/Scope:

Part of the CSU’s mandate is to conduct research, develop argumentation, and produce educational materials for its members on issues relevant to students and related to academic affairs. Under the supervision of the Academic & Advocacy Coordinator, the Academic Researcher will be responsible for researching issues, writing reports and developing argumentation. These will be utilized in the production of argumentation, reports, and popular education documents relevant to representation on academic bodies within the University and other academic issues.

 

Responsibilities include:

Under the supervision of the Academic and Advocacy Coordinator, this person will:

  • Research issues, write reports and develop argumentation as required by the Academic and Advocacy Coordinator
  • Gather relevant information from 1st, 2nd and 3rd party sources
  • Compile and analyze the data to generate reports and develop argumentation
  • Research information to be used in CSU pamphlets, flyers, infographics, and educational materials as well as for internal CSU operations and services (as needed)
  • Collaborate in the composition of flyers, pamphlets, reports, and other information materials required for outreach with external bodies or for campaigns purposes and internal University bodies;
  • Perform other related duties.
