Hojo Communications Intern

The Woodnote Communications intern will work closely with the CSU Support Member to develop effective strategies for outreach, visibility and branding of the housing project.

 

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Attending events and presenting in classrooms to promote the project.

  • Posting regularly on the Woodnote social media accounts and sending out the Woodnote newsletter.

  • Tabling on-campus to inform students about the project.

  • Using our marketing research to develop an effective campaign model.

  • Finding ways to increase the amount of applications the cooperative will receive.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong English language skills.

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate student at Concordia.

  • Creative ideas for campaigning and communications.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Ability to speak confidently both in one-on-one, and in front of large groups.

  • Must be available to work during Hojo office hours on a regular weekly schedule.

 

Assets:

  • Previous work in campaigns, marketing or communications.

  • Enrolled in a field of study related to marketing or communications.

  • Knowledge of the cooperative model, social economy and the Woodnote housing project.

  • Bilingualism.

  • Technological competence.

Under direction of the Lead Graphic Designer, the Designer shall do layout of posters, leaflets, fliers for the CSU and all newsletters and reports to the CSU membership. This person shall be responsible for the design of advertising CSU publications including but not limited to the student agenda annually produced in the fall. The employee shall be responsible for the design of CSU sponsored advertising in non-CSU publications. The Designer shall, in conjunction with the IT coordinator, help design and maintain the CSU web page and any other web pages the CSU wishes to design and maintain. The Designer will print posters, leaflets and fliers upon request for the CSU and will assist CSU clubs in printing their materials.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Lead Designer

• Creating graphic material for newsletters, posters, pamphlets and any promotional material from the CSU and its services.

• Sustaining the branding guidelines across all media

• Creating design proposals for branding campaigns and events for the organization

• Work closely with the executives and managers of services to execute projects within time and budget.

• Able to work within an established brand aesthetic while also being able to bring fresh perspective and ideas.

Essential Requirements

• Ability to work well in teams and independently

• Being registered as a full-time undergraduate student at Concordia

• Internal candidates shall have preference according to the Collective Agreement

• Good overall knowledge of the Adobe Suit (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) Premier Pro & Aftereffects are an asset.

THE PEOPLE'S POTATO IS HIRING

The primary activity of the People’s Potato is to serve daily vegan lunch to about 500 people on the Concordia University SGW campus. The People’s Potato is a worker-run organization where decisions are made collectively. Collective members both guide and execute the vision of the organization.Individuals hired will cook, clean, and pick up food donations; many tasks require heavy lifting. Collective members will take on a variety of these 3 to 5-hour shifts each week (4-5 shifts for full-timers or 2-3 for part-timers) and will participate in committee work such as organizing workshops, coordinating volunteers, stocking and organizing the kitchen, etc. Committee work will be determined based on the Collective’s current needs while taking into consideration the interests and skills of the new hires.Contracts typically begin mid-August, end mid-May and are renewed on a yearly basis. We are seeking applicants who are able to make at least a one year commitment. Work schedules are flexible; however collective members are expected to be available most weekdays between 8:30am and 3:30pm. Additionally, we have a weekly collective meeting, of which the day will be decided together, that is usually scheduled from 3:30pm - 5:30pm on a weekday.
