The Employee Relations Representative will provide employee relations support to current field employees and client. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Build positive working relationships with all field employees. Encourage employees to develop skill sets. Build positive working relationship with client. Address, investigate and resolve employee relations. Work with client to address employee relations matters. Provide counsel to client and employees on performance improvement plans. Understand client’s staffing needs. Follow and ensure compliance with all Volt and client policies and procedures are being carried out. Assist in any event coordination. Conduct all on boarding processes including Orientations, Payroll and Benefits. Manage and Conduct Performance Review Process. Ability to arrive to work at a specified time. 

Student Monitors


Concordia Continuing Education is seeking three (3) Concordia students for the position of student monitors. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programs, Academic Coordinator and Program Activity Coordinator at the CCE, the monitors will promote and participate in social and cultural activities for students enrolled in the Intensive English as a Second Language Program, French language program and visiting groups at the Centre for Continuing Education. This position will begin in the 2017 fall term and extend across the academic year. Duties include: 

  • Attend training in working with international student population;
  • Attend new student orientations;
  • Monitor, plan and supervise weekly afternoon workshops, activities and outings;
  • Accompany students on socio-cultural outings on campus, locally and regionally;
  • Provide opportunities to students to explore the Concordia campus;
  • Facilitate language practice activities for students in French and English.

 Qualifications and Criteria for Selection: 

  • Successfully completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate program at Concordia;
  • Experience in organizing and implementing recreational activities and events;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French;
  • Excellent time management and team work skills;
  • Interest in working with an international student population and/or previous experience in working with an ESL population an asset;
  • Sensitivity to working with diverse groups;
  • Monitors must have some weekday availability;
  • Must be available on Fridays; 
  • Must be available to accompany students on the whole school outing day.

The Action Coordinator will work at the office located at 1500 de Maisonneuve W, Unit 404 (there is a second office at 2110 Mackay). There is a ramp outside leading to the front door, however most wheelchair users find it to be too steep to use (10.8% grade). Since we share the floor with a business, we have not been able to successfully create gender-neutral washrooms even temporarily during events. Space users are of course welcome to use whichever washroom they want, but we realize this is not the same as having washrooms that are actually gender-neutral.

About the Centre for Gender Advocacy:
The Centre for Gender Advocacy (the Centre) is an independent, student-funded, Concordia University organization, mandated to promoting gender equality and empowerment particularly as it relates to marginalized communities. This mandate is achieved through ongoing programming, campaigns, resources, services, advocacy and a commitment to accessibility.


The Centre is 
a collaborative work environment in which all core staff provide 
support for ongoing projects, and as such, while the candidate will 
be hired for the position of Action Coordinator, they are also

This position is a job-share with the Action Coordinator (Programming Support) who will work 15 hrs/week. 

Tasks and Responsibilities include:

  • Take a lead in planning and organizing the Centre’s programming, beginning with the city-wide March for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women on October 4th. Other programming may include talks, workshops, event series, and public actions.
  • Check-in on a regular basis with Action Coordinator (Programming Support) to ensure the smooth operation of the Centre’s programming
  • Work closely with the Outreach Coordinator, volunteers and other staff to ensure that events are well promoted
  • Work with staff, board, and other volunteers to implement the Centre’s campaigns, including but not limited to coordinating public education forums and other awarenessraising and lobbying strategies.
  • Liaise with the Administrative and Finance Coordinator to develop and maintain a programming budget.
  • Coordinate volunteers to help with logistical tasks
  • Organize volunteer appreciation events
  • Self-educate on issues of relevance to marginalized communities. 
  •  Liaise with student & community organizations to build alliances around common mandates pertaining to campaigns

The Education and Engagement Coordinator’s goal is to facilitate recruitment and engagement of interns and volunteers, and to develop and organise education-based events and resources in line with SC’s campaign goals (workshops, discussions, conferences, popular education). They will collaborate with other Coordinators on outreach initiatives, through online resources (social media, mailing list), as well as in-person outreach in the community and on campus. They will develop internship positions based on organisational needs, and integrate volunteers into campaign and educational activities and events.
