 Job Responsibilities: Towards the campers: You will be responsible for the planning and execution of your activity and being in charge of teaching the activity to a small group of kids. Your job is to ensure these kids are safe, healthy and organized at all times. You must understand that your role is the same as their parents; playing enjoying all camp related activities, having lots of fun and being the greatest role model for them, making sure they are making good friends and learning as much as possible, and most importantly, making sure they are always safe and prevented from all possible dangers that surround them.  Towards the staff: you will be required to work as a team player, your role as a camp counsellor requires you to support and communicate clearly and respectfully with other staff members to maintain a healthy and joyful environment at camp in order to achieve the camp’s goals and objectives. You must obey, respect, and report to the camp coordinators, section heads, and camp director. Towards the general public and clients: you will respect Camp Ecolart when interacting with the general public and the camp clients, it is your responsibility to ensure that you, other staff members and campers keep a respectful, professional and positive attitude towards any of them. Always keep a good personal image and proper language communication skills when addressing any parents or third party individuals outside of camp. Time period: Training last week of June; camp goes from July 2 - Aug 10, Monday through Friday from 8:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs. Requirements:  

  • 19+ years of age.
  • Provide CPR and First Aid Certification and criminal background check.
  • Have previous experience working in a summer camp.
  • Be available for the entire time period as indicated above.

Marketing Designer

 Title: Hive Cafe Marketing Designer The Hive Cafe Solidarity Co-op envisions accessible food systems that are socially, economically, and environmentally regenerative that is operated locally and democratically. Our mission is to be a model food system at Concordia University that provides food through sustainable practices and empowers the student community. The Hive cafe operates using consensus-based decision making, while striving to create a non-hierarchical work environment. The Marketing Designer will work to create marketing materials and a marketing strategy for the Hive Cafe, with a focus on engaging students at Loyola and in residence. They will also seek out and establish partnerships with like-minded, student-run, groups, and create marketing and promotional material, while upholding an online, and social media presence. The ideal candidate will be driven, and able to work autonomously for long periods of time, while ensuring they are meeting the goals and expectations  set out by the marketing and engagement committee.  The Marketing Designer will report to the Finance/Administrative Coordinator, and the Board of Directors. This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. To be eligible, the candidate must have been a full time student in Winter 2018, and intend to return to full time studies in the fall of 2018. The position will be compensated at $2520 for the duration of the contract (over seven weeks), paid out biweekly (at $360 per week).  Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a strategic outreach and promotion plan for the Hive to implement in the fall semester (for both the downtown and the Loyola Campuses), including the use of social media, digital platforms throughout the University as well as physical materials that can be used while tabling and engaging with students.
  • Develop marketing materials, including:
    • A video outlining the structure of the Hive Cafe
    • Marketing posters for both cafe locations
    • Social Media content (pre-coordinated)
    • An image advertisement adaptable to television
    • Marketing and engagement strategies specific to the Loyola cafe
    • Marketing and engagement strategies aimed at residence students
    • Marketing materials around the mission of the HIive Cafe
    • Marketing materials aimed at small business in the Concordia Cartier (SGW Cafe)
    • Blackboard design
  • Ensure the documentation of new and existing activities is being completed in a comprehensive and easy to access manner
  • Website development, including content development, and possible re-design
  • Collaborate with the Finance/Administrative Coordinator to develop marketing campaigns around specials and exam menus
  • Archive marketing materials in Google Drive in an intuitive manner
  • Assist with the development of social media and web update content
  • Report bi-weekly to the Board of Directors, via the designated liaison
  • Present final products and a summary report to the Marketing Committee, or Board of Directors (in lieu of the Marketing Committee)
  • Accomplish tasks assigned by the committee and / or the board of directors
  • Work independently while maintaining timeline goals and regular communication with liaison and/or other relevant Hive members
  • Uphold the Hive Cafe Style Guide in all outreach and promotional material
  • Uphold the solidarity cooperative mission, vision and values

 Assets: 

  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in marketing or design
  • Aptitude in graphic design, specifically Adobe Illustrator
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Previous experience in a cooperative structure
  • Previous experience working in a non - hierarchical work environment
  • Knowledge and sensitivity of workplace dynamics including anti-oppression strategies
  • Knowledge of website maintenance is a plus
  • Experience working with website content development and/or programming , such as Wordpress
  • Understanding of Concordia community

Youth Co-op Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Program Director and Assistant Program Director, the Youth Co-op Coordinator supervises all members selected and ensures the proper functioning of the cooperative. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish a process for selecting participants (information sessions and interviews)
  • Plan and implement training workshops to youth
  • Oversee youth in the establishment and development of their cooperative
  • Accompany youth in research and implementation of contracts
  • Attend all necessary meetings including but not limited to different community organizations (i.e. CJS)
  • Build positive relationships with youth co-op members by creating a welcoming and structured environment
  • Intervene effectively in conflict situations when necessary and teach youth how to resolve conflicts autonomously
  • Teach the youth tools to be able to build on their independence in order to run the CJS on their own
  • Coordinate larger contracts
  • Produce a report of all activities at the end of the project
  • Promote positive individual and group behaviour

 Qualifications:

  • Have been registered as a student in 2017-2018 and be returning to school in September 2018.
  • Study in one the followings fields: social work, leisure intervention technique, special care counseling, communication or any other appropriate field (University diploma).
  • Training or appropriate experience in animation with youth 12 to 18 years of age is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community organizations is an asset.
  •  Ability to communicate in French and English (written, oral and verbal).
  • Be available to attend a 3-day intensive training on the development of a work cooperative (May 23-25)
  • Flexible, reliable, independent, mature
  • First-Aid & CPR certification is an asset
  •  Experience working with ethno-cultural communities an asset.
  •  Strong organization skills, ability to delegate, multi-tasking, time management and computer skills (ex. Microsoft Word, Excel)

 Job Conditions:

  • 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm. Some flexibility required
  • Available for the entire duration of the contract starting May 22nd and ending August 10th
  • Salary for this position is $16.00 per hour paid every two weeks.

Day Camp Counselor

Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Day Camp Counselor assists in the development and implementation of socio-recreational programs in the Day Camp Program while ensuring the social enrichment and safety of the program participants. He/she promotes an environment conducive to team work. Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic management of program

  • Plan socio-recreation curriculum and special events.
  • Animate socio-recreational activities and special events.
  • Teach children social development skills.
  • Promote positive individual and group behaviour.
  • Intervene effectively in conflict situations.
  • Supervise volunteers and interns during programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with children, parents, program staff and volunteers.

 Administrative

  • Complete all administrative tasks assigned by the Recreation Coordinator
  • Participate in supervisory/staff meetings.
  • Manage equipment, material and supplies.
  • Evaluate programmed activities and submit reports.

 Support of Tyndale St-Georges

  • Promote Centre’s services through all program activities (publicity, recruitment, registrations, and orientations).
  • Participation in mandatory special events and other activities of Tyndale St-Georges.
  • Attend relevant Centre wide meetings and events.

 Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate in French and English (written, oral and verbal).
  • CEGEP in a related filed or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child animation and program planning
  • Experience working with ethno-cultural communities an asset.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to support child development.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to delegate, multi-tasking, time management and computer skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills

 Job Conditions:
