What is HOJO?

About Us

The CSU Off-Campus Housing & Job Resource Centre (HOJO) works to empower,
educate and support the Concordia community by providing reliable housing and
employment information, resources and referrals. Our work gives us a unique
insight into the challenges and opportunities that students face as tenants and
workers. We keep up to date on housing and employment issues that have arisen
over the past year and create relevant campaigns to reach students who may be
affected by these issues.

We offer personalized legal information to assist students when they are dealing
with issues related to their housing or employment situation. We help students
through meetings in our office, workshops, research, and our Classifieds website.

Crafted by Students for
Students

Our office is located in the Hall Building at Concordia University, in office H-224. We offer our services throughout the week, with a team of HOJO Assistants that are well-informed on housing and job rights. We also regularly host workshops, table at University events, and collaborate with other organizations on social projects. Our services are always confidential, honest and free of charge.

Our Values

Knowledge

The transparent exchange of information, ideas, knowledge and values is essential to the achievement of our mandate. Our team is consistently expanding and updating our understanding of the housing and job rights and responsibilities. We believe that the more well-informed students are, the more they’re able to navigate their off-campus lives. Our service is centered on students’ needs. We strive to support students in learning about and exercising their rights as tenants and employees.

Transparancy

The management of HOJO is done with openness and integrity; we feel accountable to the students of Concordia University, and it shows. The personalized interaction offered from our staff is a major strength in dealing with sometimes difficult situations. As an organization, we recognize that students have unique needs, with respect to their time and budgetary constraints. We welcome constructive feedback, and believe it is continuous essential to maintaining the high quality of our services.

Flexibility

The HOJO team is able to work one-on-one with students, to create a plan of action that best serves their specific situations. There is a legal process for everything, and it’s important to our team that students follow the right protocol. We walk students through step-by-step, and even offer accompaniment to the Regie du Logement when necessary. Throughout the year, we implement planned campaigns on relevant issues to keep the student body as informed as possible.
